Sustainability

My stance is:

Sustainability is important to incorporate in each aspect of my shop and art practice.

I want to take as many steps as I can to lessen my impact and on the consumers end.

To ensure safe delivery and the best for the environment I’m using packaging that prioritizes minimizing waste. I include plastic covering for paper products only so that they will last on their journey out.

How I incorporate it:

By buying from reputable companies like EcoEnclose and choosing mailers and envelopes that are recycled from post consumer waste I can balance quality with actions that fit my values.

Using sturdy mailers takes out the needed for filler cardboard in packaging. I like to limiting paper waste in packaging and in the process of making art (which means keeping fun paper shapes.)

I specifically use Akua Inks because they don’t require harsh or toxic chemicals to clean up. Akua inks are light fast quality pigments that actively reduce waste in the print studio. I have art series that reuse resources instead of consuming more and I find that transformation to be beautiful.

Ideas for reusing you packaging:

Plastic Sleeve - works really well for storing important papers or keeping them dry. They also can be used to make tiny windows in a doll house.

Tissue paper - perfect to wrap gifts in especially if it’s a small jewelry box.

Mailers - these are great for impromptu cutting boards for taking an exacto knife to paper. They make great pompom templates for wrapping yarn around.
